A Remote Control Car Climbs Walls! – Air Hogs Zero Gravity
As the Sons excitedly shrieked for me to come and watch a TV advert, I already knew I was in trouble. But when I saw it, my heart sank. A remote control car that climbs walls. Really?!!??? That’s going to work is it?
In an effort to cast aside my skepticism and give this toy a fair shot, I’ve gone on a research mission to find out how it works and IF it works.
I’m sharing my findings here for the benefit of all the other mums who have been forced to abandon their domestic duties, ‘come quickly’ and rush to the TV to watch this advert.
The Wall Climbing Toy Car Is…
Called the Air Hogs Zero Gravity Laser Racer. There are other wall-climbing cars available, but this is the one I’ve seen advertised on TV.
Age Range: 5 years and up
Video About How To Use It:
How Does It Work?
There’s a fan underneath the car, sucking air in, which keeps in tight to the wall.
The car will only work on (very) flat surfaces, so if you’ve got a 1970s stippled ceiling (like us) or embossed wallpaper, you’re out of luck.
Does It Really Work?
I love this video because it shows that it does work, but it’s not as slick as the advert would have you believe, and it is noisy. This really reminds me of our cat chasing her laser light.
