LEGO Friends – New 2012 Sets for Girls
Introducing LEGO for girls
It’s been a long time coming, but finally LEGO have launched a range especially designed for girls.
The ‘LEGO Friends’ series revolves around 5 characters: Stephanie, Olivia, Emma, Mia and Andrea.
The styling is much more feminine than we normally see from LEGO – with the girls having more slender and curvacious figures than regular minifigures.

The range is new, so only has a few sets in it so far:

- #3932 Andrea’s Stage – £10
- #3933 Olivia’s Invention Workshop – £10
- #3934 Mia’s Puppy House – £10

Are LEGO Friends bricks compatible with other LEGO?
LEGO Friends bricks are compatible with other LEGO bricks, but are in new softer pastel colors you won’t have seen before. The play figures look different to minifigures but they are perfectly proportioned to fit with with your existing playsets, and their hands are the minifigure size, so they can grip the same weapons and tools. The body parts are not interchageable with other figures, but the hair is!
Freestyle LEGO Construction
What the set is missing though is a bucket of bricks.
With my sons, I find most of the fun and creativity with LEGO comes when they are freestyling – just dipping into a huge bucket of bricks and building what they like.
With the Friends range this is not possible as all the packs are desgined to be assembled in a particular way.
To kick start your girls imagination, look at this bucket of girly-coloured bricks in the Creator range.
Its priced at £26 for 400 bricks, although they are not the same pastel colours as the Friends range.
