Toy Pirate Ships for Boys

Toy Pirate Ships for Boys

A pirate ship playset is the perfect gift for a little swashbuckling sailor.

Look for a durable set that will last as this toy will be getting plenty of use.

Also consider how your child will cope with action figures and accessories included with the set. Younger children will need chunkier figures to grasp, and may get frustrated with small buttons, or tricky doors and hatches.

Toy Tattle takes a look at the best pirate ships available to buy in 2012.

Toy Pirate Ship That Floats From Playmobil

This huge ship from Playmobil was released Summer 2012 as part of their new Pirates range.

It is priced at $80 and measures and impressive 26.7″ long x 8.8″ wide x 22″ tall.

It features working cannons, a hidden compartment to store treasure, four action figures, and a crane that can be used for loading and unloading the goods.

It can float it on water, or you can add the Playmobil Underwater Motor set (sold separately) to power it.

And I’ve found video evidence that this boat does indeed float:

Toy Pirate Ship for the Bath – Splashin Bucky

Jake and the Neverland Pirate fans’ long wait for toys was out to an end this Summer.

The largest toy in the range is the Bucky playset, but alas this does not float on water.

To keep JNLP fans entertained at bathtime, Fisher-Price have lauched the Splashin’ Bucky toy ($20).

This is a half boat with a one flat side and suction cups to stick it to the tub, tiles or shower screen.

It is a water play center, not a floating boat.

It is designed so kids can enjoy water play by scooping water in the little row boat and pouring it into Bucky to make rain, a water slide, and push the porthole wheel around.

Wooden Toy Pirate Ship from Melissa and Doug

For a beautiful, durable classic toy, choose a wooden pirate ship.

This model from Melissa and Doug ($70) is beautifully detailed, and features a spinning steering wheel, a captain’s cabin, a cargo hold, and a three-man pirate crew.

For a more sinistedr looking ship, you should check out the Wooden Barbarossa Pirate Ship from Le Toy Van ($75), pictured below:
